The less power we use, the less power we need to produce. Today, demand for power in Idaho is forecasted to increase by an average of 9,500 new residential customers per year. Serving just these new customers may take an investment of more than $50 million every year for new power plants. This makes energy efficiency a crucial part of Idaho Power’s balanced Energy Plan, also referred to by regulators as the Integrated Resource Plan.
Programs that help reduce demand mean lower costs, slowing increases in your power rates. Programs that help reduce the demand for electricity during times of peak use can also help put off the need to build new power plants or buy power from the market. All of this helps preserve our natural resources and lessens the impacts on the environment.
Idaho Power has energy efficiency information and programs in place that can change the way you use our limited resources, help reduce the energy demand, and lower your electric bill.
