The most recent data we have is from July 1, 2007, and it shows Idaho Power’s rates as the lowest among the investor-owned electric utilities surveyed by the Edison Electric Institute. While our specific ranking fluctuates slightly between the semi-annual surveys, we have historically been among those with the lowest rates.
We anticipate the need to file for general rate increases more frequently than we have in the past because of the major investments we need to make in our system, and the need to begin recovery of the investment in a timely fashion. But this is a common situation in the utility industry today, and other utilities will need to be taking similar action.
As a result, we’re confident that Idaho Power’s position as a low-cost energy provider will continue.
