What’s Next?

It’s unlikely Idaho Power will build any new hydroelectric power plants. Nearly all of the available sites have been used and opposition to the construction of new hydro plants would be considerable.

But Idaho Power is constantly working to maintain the benefits of its existing plants and increase their efficiency when appropriate. Recently the company obtained a license to expand its Shoshone Falls hydro plant from 12.5 megawatts to 62.5 megawatts over the next few years, and the company also has a program in place to increase efficiency by replacing existing turbines.

As Idaho continues to address the challenge of a growing demand for a limited supply of water, Idaho Power will actively engage in all public processes addressing this challenge.
